Welcome to the National Visual Journalist Photo e-mail discussion list. Visual journalism is in upheaval with convergence of stills and video, erosion of fees and rights, and the transition to web based media. Is there any place for professional journalism any more? The NVJPhoto mailing list exists to enable communication between professionals who are often isolated from each other by the nature of their work, and to discuss our industry and our response. It offers an alternative venue for the conversations that were possible through the now closed NUJPhoto list Although all list members are also NUJ members, this is a private and unofficial informal discussion group. The NVJPhoto email list has no connection whatsoever with the National Union of Journalists. It is in no way sanctioned by the NUJ, it is not endorsed by the NUJ, it is not funded by the NUJ. Membership application is welcomed from all professional visual journalists who are NUJ members. In exceptional circumstances we may admit others who do not meet these qualifications but are an asset for the group. For more details please see the membership guidelines. Admission is solely at moderators' discretion. All members must agree to abide by the list rules, which prohibit offensive or abusive posting and require respect for people on or off the list.
